Featured Author Melanie Snitker

When she published Finding Peace, the first book in the Love’s Compass series, in 2015, Melanie D. Snitker had no idea just how many people it would reach. With each new book in the series, the characters continued to draw readers in as couples fell in love, families grew, and faith persevered.
Now the sixth and final chapter, Finding Grace, will be released this January.

Single dad Tyler Martin can’t be more grateful to the woman who finds his missing daughter. Even though he feels a spark between them, falling in love is a risk he shouldn’t take. Too bad chance encounters and his stubborn heart keep trying to convince him otherwise.
After escaping a nightmarish relationship, Beth Davenport is content with her safe and blessedly normal life. Yet something about Tyler and his adorable daughter makes her wish for more. With the walls around her heart finally starting to crumble, she’s afraid of a future she can’t predict.

Helping Others Without Letting Them Know

With it coming up on the Christmas Season very soon, there are so many worthwhile charities that need our help. It's so hard to decide which to give to and sometimes the simplest act of giving to an individual in need can get forgotten.

One of my favorite charitable acts was one that my husband did not too long ago. We were in line at the grocery store and there was this little old man who had only a few items. Once the cashier rang the man's items up he counted out his change but he came up short. Now, we could have given the cashier the rest of the money, but my husband thought it might embarrass the elderly gent. So, he dropped a twenty dollar bill down on the floor next to the man and then bent down and picked it up and handed it to him. He told the older man that he must have dropped it. I'm sure the elderly man knew he hadn't dropped that much money, but he accepted it gratefully and was able to pay for his purchases and be on his way. That was my favorite charitable act and one that both my husband and I have repeated several times.

New Release And Giveaway for The Alaskan Catch by Beth Carpenter

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

The Alaskan Catch (Northern Lights #1) by Beth Carpenter Adult Contemporary Romance Mass Market Paperback & ebook, 368 pages August 1st 2017 by Harlequin Heartwarming Where life's currents take you… Dana Raynott just traveled 3,600 miles to reunite with the brother who changed his name and fled to Alaska nineteen years ago. It's impossible not to be moved by this wild, breathtaking state, even if Dana's no closer to finding the answers she came here for. Her brother's best friend, Anchorage engineer Sam MacKettrick, might be able to help her. He's strong and kind—a six-foot, irresistible blend of diverse cultures. He's also haunted by a tragic family history with a startling connection to Dana's past…

My Review:

My Review:

The heartwarming books have always been one of my favorites to read and The Alaskan Catch certainly was no different.

People who go to Alaska, go there because they want something different in the lives, or they want to escape something painful in their past. Such is the case with The Alaskan Catch.

As a suspense author myself, I found myself drawn into the story by the generous amount of suspense. I wanted to know what happens next. Will Dana find the answers she is searching for? Will she understand why her brother left home all those years ago and never looked back? The answer to these questions is yes! And along the way, she finds something unexpected…love.

Sam MacKettrick has his own demons to face. His future doesn’t include falling in love, yet unexpectedly, Sam finds himself tied to Dana and her brother by the past.

This is my first story by Beth Carpenter, but it won’t be my last. I loved the way the author wove an enticing story of romance and suspense, set in the beautiful backdrop of breathtaking Alaska. The characters were realistic and engaging. They had me cheering for them all the way to the end.

I would highly recommend, The Alaskan Catch to anyone looking for a great romance.

Read An Excerpt From Ransom In Rio by Theresa Lynn Hall

Hey everyone. Today I'm featuring an excerpt from my fellow White Rose Publishing author, Theresa Lynn Hall's latest release, Ransom In Rio

Excerpt
Her worst nightmare had come to life.
Now, the fear of what she would do if it ever happened was over, but the loss of her brother came with a burden she hadn't foreseen. It left her to deal with her family alone. To carry the legacy. To protect the empire. To convince everyone to believe the lies.
“He was always so careful,” she muttered to herself as she drove.
Snow had started falling as the last “Amen” was said at the cemetery. The heavy white powder made the pale, yellow lines on the road fade in and out of sight. Lexi tugged her sweater tighter around her body with one hand and gripped the steering wheel with the other. The funeral had drained her of what little emotional strength she had left. It was crazy, but several times throughout the day she'd found herself picking up her phone to see if Jace had messaged her. He used to text or call every day. Silly stuff sometimes, like never walk the dog with no shoes on. Once he'd texted that he had the hiccups.
“I just can't believe he’s gone.” Lexi glanced at her friend. She didn’t expect Kristy to say anything. Nothing she could say would make the pain go away.
Jace had been the perfect big brother, Lexi’s best friend. From an early age, they learned that sticking together in a dysfunctional family was their only hope. One thing Lexi knew for certain was that Jace wouldn’t leave her here alone. He would not have put himself in danger for a stupid fishing trip. His chance to break free of their crazy family was finally around the corner. He'd just bought his girlfriend an engagement ring. They had plans to move to New York as soon as the wedding was over. Now he was gone. None of it made any sense. Why was she the only person who could see that something was wrong with ruling the cause of death as accidental?
Lexi brushed at her red hair with a careless hand and caught a glimpse of her swollen, blue eyes in the rearview mirror. She hardly resembled her brother at all—a fact that had always bothered her, but she’d never questioned it the way Jace had. He had always asked where he'd gotten his blonde hair.
“Lexi, why don’t you stay with me tonight?”
The sound of Kristy’s voice startled her. “I’m sorry. I’m really out of it.” She smiled and wiped a stray tear from her cheek. “Thank you for everything. You’ve done more than enough for me over the past few days.”
“You know I’m always here.” “I know.” She swallowed hard. “Kristy…”
“What’s wrong?” “I can’t stop thinking...I just don’t think this was
an accident. It couldn’t be. Jace didn’t even like to fish. He wouldn't charter a boat to go fishing in Cozumel. He liked nice restaurants, museums, theaters. Not fishing. And then there’s the fact that he didn’t take Selena with him. He always had Selena with him. Why doesn’t anyone else seem to think this is odd?”
“I don’t know. Now that you bring it up, Jace wasn’t much of a risk-taker.”
“Exactly. The strangest thing is that Selena said he told her he would be back in an hour. He only left for one hour. Who charters a fishing boat for only an hour?”
“Did Selena tell you why he didn't take her?”
“She didn't say, and I didn't want to ask her a lot of questions. Not yet.”
Kristy nodded. “I saw her today. She’s really not handling this well.”
“No one is.” She pulled into Kristy’s driveway. It was a relief to be off the snowy roads.
No matter how she looked at this, her brother’s death could not have been an accident. Somehow, she would prove that he didn’t drown on a fishing trip. She would prove Jace was murdered.

Evolving Characters With Engaged Author Julie Arduini

ENGAGED is my third and final book in the Surrendering Time series. Each book takes an element of time and adds a surrender theme to it, as well as a mention or two about chocolate. ENTRUSTED was about surrendering the present as Jenna and Ben work on letting go of fear, loss, and change. ENTANGLED was about surrendering the past as Carla had to break through re living her regrets. ENGAGED is about surrendering the future. Trish Maxwell has to replace her dreams with God’s plan, something that’s difficult when she has no plan but the dreams she focused on.
What I loved about ENGAGED was I was able to create a heroine that was the “bad girl” from ENTRUSTED. In Book 1, Trish was in New York City living the dream. When she returns, she’s still got a chip on her shoulder regarding her hometown. It’s a place she never wanted to be, and she left quickly without saying goodbye. Jenna’s new in town and has the job Trish used to have, and is much better at it. Trish also sees her ex boyfriend, Ben Regan, has his eye on Jenna. It wasn’t hard to make Trish the mean girl.
By the time ENGAGED starts, everything has changed for Trish. The job ended as abruptly as it started and she has nothing else to fall back on. She’s forced to move back to Speculator Falls to live with her parents and work at the department store. Even worse, she has to face the many people she angered when she left. She’s been humbled, her confidence is shaken, and she realizes she burned a lot of bridges. What was a neat surprise was of all the new friends for Trish to have in this book, it’s Jenna who advocates and believes in her.
Trish wasn’t the only character I changed up a bit. Throughout the series, Kyle Swarthmore was the city mogul with his eyes on Speculator Falls. Although he grew up summers there just as Ben had, Kyle’s perspective is different. His dad wants him to buy up the land and commercialize it. Speculator Falls residents are protective, they’ve seen the results when that’s been done in other places like Lake George, and they want to keep their village the pioneer land it’s been known for. Kyle’s torn, because the longer he stays, the more he feels a connection to the people. His dad’s influence has a far reach, and although we never meet Kyle’s father, his presence follows Kyle. I was proud of how between Trish and Kyle, there was improvement in them as the series progressed.
ENGAGED is out now for Kindle, and coming soon for print. If you follow my page on Amazon, you’ll be notified when I have a new release.
Is there a character that you recall that experienced a change as a series moved forward? It can be in a book, movie, or TV show. I’d love to hear from you!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas?

We are in full blown summer here in my neck of the woods in Texas, and it's hibernation time.  You know what I mean. When the temperature creeps up to over a 100 degrees and its not fit for man nor beast outside most of the day.

When things get hot here in the Alford house, my thoughts naturally drift off to cooler times. And when I think of cooler weather, well, I think of Christmas.

And when I think about Christmas, I find myself wanting to start making Christmas decorations.

So today, I though I'd share some of my favorite craft ideas for the upcoming the Christmas season.

I love this idea because it seems easy enough and you can add lights to it, giving it a special look.

Not sure if I can pull this one off or not. But I'm looking forward to trying it.

This is one of my favorites from last year. The melting snowman. I think it would be fun to make with the granddaughters.

And this sign that pretty much defines the meaning of Christmas for me.

So what about you? What's your favorite way to decorate for Christmas...even if its only July.

All the best...

A traumatized past makes it hard for Lacy to commit to this new relationship, especially since she can’t shake the nagging suspicion that her fiancé isn’t dead like the police reports claim. All she wants is closure, but as she seeks out real answers, she discovers how deadly the truth can actually be.
